Methane Emissions: Farm Dams Project
Join us as we explore the Methane Emissions Farm Dams Initiative, led by the Grower Compass Agricultural Alliance. Our goal is to research methane emissions from farm dams in Western Australia.
We’re starting with an ambitious pilot program to collect and analyse data on methane release from these reservoirs. By comparing our findings with research from Eastern Australia, we aim to improve water management practices and reduce methane output.
While farm dam methane emissions are relatively small in a farm’s overall carbon footprint, responsible dam stewardship benefits water quality, livestock health, agricultural yield, and spray programs.
