SOUTHERN DIRT NOW PODCASTING

Out in the field or on the road? You can still keep up to date with Southern Dirt and everything that’s happening in the WA growers community. Join our CEO Tracey Hodgkins as she chats with Agronomy from the Cab, in Southern Dirt’s very first podcast.

Tracey shares some insightful commentary on the evolution of Southern Dirt and of the future of farming in WA, commenting that it’s all about “great food, coming from great farmers. If we’re engaged in that process of making a farm prosperous, the whole community benefits greatly from that.”

She continues, “It’s not something that sits alone, it sits within the environment that we have too. That’s not just here, but everywhere. In WA, we have a large agricultural community, and together we need to be concentrating on making sure we have great food security for not just our local consumers but also those we have overseas.”

Tracey believes the key to this ongoing prosperity and security is a focus on supply chain. “There’s an awful lot of work that needs to be done on the farm, but beyond that, we need to start looking at supply chain. Right now, everything here is commodity based. Worldwide, what we’re seeing is that people are making more money within that supply chain process so it’s not just all at the farm gate.”

The podcast also provides a sneek-peek into the most innovative technologies that will be available for farmers to touch, see and experience at this years’ TECHSPO. Listen to this informative and thought-provoking discussion online here or below.
